Gotherington and Churchdown served up a classic match in the sunshine. The game ebbed and flowed throughout and was played in an excellent spirit. The Churchdown openers got off to a flying start, playing with good judgement with some quality shots.
With the second pair at the crease the total had reached 260-0 (ie 60 scored in 6 overs, no wickets lost). Gotherington started to get a foothold in the game with a couple of wickets to stem the flow, including a good catch from keeper Mynett.
The last 8 overs saw Gotherington get into a strong position with some top draw fielding and good straight bowling, the wickets fell in batches and the final total of net 221 looked very achievable.
Gcc also got off to a good start being net 228, after 4 overs . but never got out of sight and as the last over started all results were possible, but with the help of a couple of shots that reached the boundary Gotherington just edged out Churchdown who deserved a lot of credit for a tenacious effort in the field that ensured it was a close game
