Both teams observed one minutes silence to mark the recent passing of Ron Brimble, Gotherington club President who had been involved with the club since he first played 40 years ago.

Withington raced to 37-1 in 5 overs , in sunny conditions not often enjoyed in these April Fixtures.

However with a youthful quartet of bowlers to call on Skipper Dave P was delighted to see Harry Sharp claim 4 wickets for 8 runs in 6 overs well backed up by Will Banwell returning from Australia with 1-12,Sam Newman 2-29 and Ben Williams with 1 for o on debut, Wily veteran Tim Hearn bagged 1 for 2 in an economical 6 over spell. Edward Gillespie pulled off a sensational catch at short mid off,to add to the overall team display, he will however be the first Gotherington player to be unavailable due to attendance at the BAFTA awards in London as the channel 4 coverage of the cheltenham racing has been nominated for an award.

Either side of tea Gotherington reached the total with the loss of 2 wickets to record an opening day win.
